Testimonies have jump-started in the trial of one Mustapha Bah almost a year after his interception with a quantity of substance suspected to be illegal drugs.

Mustapha Bah was arrested in July of last year whilst allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana into town.

According to Alhagie Bojang, a police officer attached to Brikama police station, Mustapha was arrested on 19 July 2007 when he [Bojang], alongside others, mounted a checkpoint along the Brikama/Serrekunda highway.

"At the checkpoint, we intercepted a commercial van with registration number BJL 4124 and when a search was conducted on it, we found a black bag near the accused. The bag was containing four parcels of substance suspected to be cannabis and on further query, Mustapha confessed of being the owner of the bag," said officer Bojang.

"He was arrested and taken to Brikama police station where he was cautioned and charged," concluded officer Bojang.

The case continues.
