Taiwan Petroleum Graduates to be Absorbed into the Civil Service - Secy Jammeh

The Secretary of State for Energy, Honourable Ousman Jammeh, has revealed that plans have already been made to employ all the 25 petroleum graduates from Taiwan.

The Energy Secretary of State made these remarks last Sunday at the Banjul International Airport where he formally received the students on behalf of the Gambian government.

According to him, the graduates will be employed by The Gambia National Petroleum Company (GNPC), the Department of Secretary for Energy and the company that is to for drill oil in The Gambia. He expressed confidence in the graduates' abilities to overcome all their future challenges.

He said that his department of state and the Department of State for Petroleum, under the Office of the President will be working together to make the best use of the graduates.

He however informed them that those who fail to deliver will be ask to give the chance to others who can meet up the challenges. This he said is what the system is all about.

Fafa Sanyang, Commissioner of Petroleum, informed Taipei University of Technology graduates that they have plans to offer more practical training for them.

He advised them to be hardworking, innovative and creative in their future assignments.

Meanwhile, the 25 degree holders, comprised of 12 males and 13 females, have been given leave until August 2008.
