The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Banjul has announced the opening of 2012 Taiwan MOFA Scholarship Programs for application.
The scholarships are offered on undergraduate programs (four years), master’s programs (two years) and PhD programs (four years).
For all the courses, the participants should take a one-year pre-class mandarin session.
“Therefore, the applicants should conclude the documents to certify that they have applied to an educational institution or its affiliated Mandarin Training Centre, such as the photocopy of approval letter from the educational institution,” said embassy press release.
The programs are sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan and the scholarship package would include a two-way air ticket, tuition and credit fees, insurance and monthly allowances (between 850 and 1100 dollars).
According to the dispatch, the deadline for submission of application to the Embassy is 5 May 2012.
“Applicants must also submit the complete forms to the Embassy together with copies of highest academic school transcript and diploma, which should be authenticated by the embassy. Copies of passport and any other supporting documents are also required,” the release said.
It went further to stress that successful candidates who would fail to perform to an average level or attend classes regularly would have their scholarship stopped or dropped. The prospective students must obey school rules and laws of Taiwan.
“Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview at the Taiwanese embassy,” it added.
The embassy also emphasised that candidates are allowed to apply for only one type of Taiwan government-offered scholarship in the same year.
