The Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia on Friday held its 3rd Edition of the SJAG Remembering Tournament at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.
The four-team weekend tournament, played in a knockout format, saw the Scorpions Fans Club losing 2-0 to KGH Sports Academy in the early kickoff.
The tournament host, the Sports Journalist Association of The Gambia FC, lost 5-4 on penalties to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the evening game on the same day.
The goalless match was marred by interesting shows by both sides. Youth and sports weekend win over the sports journalists was a pay-back to an initial winning record carried by the journalists over them during the first edition in 2010.
The tournament is part of SJAG’s calendar of activities and is meant to honour late colleagues, such as Fatou Mbye and Lamin A. Darboe, who immeasurably contributed to the development of Gambian sport.
Meanwhile the KGH Sports Academy were yesterday crowned champions of the tournament after they beat the ministry of youth and sports by 2-0 in a final played at the Serrekunda West mini stadium.
