Six suspects were last Monday convicted and sentenced to a fine of D3000 in default to serve six months imprisonment for violating section 109 of the forestry act.

The suspects are Alpha Liegh, Basiru Jammeh, Matarr Jallow, Modou Jallow, Salieu Ceesay and Alagie Ceesay who all begged the court to temper justice with mercy as it was not their intention to commit the offence.

It could be recalled that the accused persons at Madiana were unlawfully found burning chacle which was contrary to section 109 of the forestry act of 1998.

The case was presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh.
