Reigning Kombo South district football tournament champions Sifoe on Sunday beat Batokunku 2-1 in the second quarterfinal game played at the Jambanjelly Football Field, to progress to the semi-final in the 2013-2014 late Kajali Badjie and late Ismaila Nyassi Kombo South District football tournament.
Sifoe, who won Kombo South district’s biggest football fiesta title back-to-back in 2012 and 2013, came into the game with the steel objective of snatching a victory against Batokunku to advance to the semi-final.
Determined to achieve their objective, they dominated the game, created numerous goal-scoring opportunities and managed to notch in two goals to snatch a slender win and ferried across to the semi-final.
Batokunku responded back for an equaliser and pressurised Sifoe’s defence but could only manage to pull back one goal, which eventually proved to be a consolation for them.
It would be recalled that Jambanjelly made it to the semi-final after their 1-0 win over Kartong in the first quarterfinal game played at the Sifoe Football Field on Saturday.
