Gambian
international forward, Saikou Janneh has scored a brace (two goals) during his
English fifth division league side, Torquay United’s 5-1 home win against
Aldershot Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy played at the Plainmoor Ground on
Saturday.
The
19-year-old striker scored his brace in the early 7th and 82nd minutes of the
game to help his side book their place in the second round of the FA Trophy,
ending their winless run after conceding defeat in their six consecutive games.
Jamie
Reid also scored a brace in the 24th and 68th minutes, while Ruairi Keating
also added his name on the scoresheet with a fine strike in the 73rd minute of
the game.
Mohammed
Bettamer scored the only consolation goal for Aldershot Town in the 60th
minute.
Janneh,
who is on loan from Bristol City, have now ended his goal drought after playing
six games without a goal in the English National League (Fifth Division).
Torquay
United have received a second successive home draw in the Buildbase FA Trophy
as they will play National League rivals FC Halifax Town in the Second Round at
Plainmoor on Saturday 11 January, 2020. They are 11th position in the 22-team
English National League table with 34 points.
