A joint investigation report carried out by the police, NDEA and NIA against one Alhagie Edrisa Jobe, alias Alhagie Morr, on an allegation of fake euro currency notes and fake cocaine, was Friday tendered at the Special Criminal Court in the case involving Ibrahim Bun Sanneh and four others.
The report was sent to the court by the Inspector General of Police, Yankuba Sonko, who was summoned by the court to appear and testify as a defence witness, based on a defence counsel application.
When the case was called on Friday, defence counsel Kebba Sanyang stated that they wanted to be clear with the affidavit, as to whether there has been a joint investigation to ascertain whether Alhagie Edrisa Jobe, alias Morr, was caught with false euro when the 1st , 2nd and 3rd accused persons were in office.
However, the IGP did not appear personally in court, but sent a report and an affidavit in relation to a joint investigation carried out by the police, NDEA and NIA agains Alhagie Edrisa Jobe, alias Alhagie Morr, when he (the IGP) was the crime management coordinator of the Gambia Police Force in 2009.
Following the tendering and the admission of the report and the affidavit, the defence counsel then applied for both the report and the affidavit to be adopted as evidence-in-chief, and his application was granted.
The defence then announced their case closed.
The case continues on 4 May 2012, for address.
