Salifu K. Jaiteh and Sons Enterprise, a renowned Gambian businessman, recently donated bales of second-hand clothes to the Central River Regional Disaster Office through the office of the regional Governor.

Worth several thousand dalasis, the bales were handed over to the regional disaster office for distribution to disaster victims in the region.

Jaiteh described the donation as part of his corporate social responsibility, adding that SK Jaiteh and Sons wants to contribute its quota to national development.

“It is a pleasure to assist those in need, and I have been doing it for the past two and half decades, supporting flood and fire victims, and refugees from Sierra Leone,” he said.

SK Jaiteh and Sons Enterprise is aware that the private sector has a crucial role to play in complementing the government’s efforts, and understands that the Central River Region registers one of thehighest number of disaster cases, he added.

He commended the government under President Yahya Jammeh for creating the enabling environment for the business community to operate.

In a signed letter of appreciation from the Regional Disaster Management Office, Baboucarr Fofana, the coordinator, expressed sincere appreciation and gratitude to SK Jaiteh and Sons for the timely donation.

Mr Fofana assured the donor that the donated items would be given to the right beneficiaries as expected, which would go a long way in addressing the plight of disaster victims within the region.

He called on the business community to emulate SK and Sons Enterprise initiative and support the people in need.
