The Banjul High Court, presided over by Justice Joseph Wowo yesterday granted court bail to the remanded journalists: Pap Saine, Ebrima Sawaneh, Sam Sarr, Pa Modou Faal, Bai Emil Touray and Abubacarr Saidykhan, all of them, charged with five-counts ranging from seditious publication to criminal defamation.
This development followed the accused persons' defense counsel filing a formal bail application to the court, to which the Director of Public Prosecution said they are not opposing to the motion filed by the defense counsel.
The bail conditions are: D400, 000 with two Gambian sureties each, the sureties must have landed properties within the Greater Banjul Area, the accused persons shall not commit similar offence while on bail, that the accused persons should be reporting to the nearest police station once every week until further notice.
