Gambia’s referee Bakary Papa Gassama will be part of seven central referees from Africa to take part in a FIFA seminar for prospective referees for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil in April.
The seminar is part of the preparations for the World Cup; the selected match officials from the five continents will attend the seminar in their various confederations.
The African seminar will be hosted in Morocco from 27 to 30 April 2013 where
Others Seminars will be held in USA (from 4-7 April), Paraguay (9-12 April), Zurich (16-19 April), UAE (22-25).
A seminar for prospective referees and assistant referees for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil was held in Zurich in September 2012.
The seminars will focus on protecting players and the image of the game and FAIR PLAY, Guarantee of decisional consistency and uniformity, “Reading the game” (technical/tactical approach) and Understanding different football mentalities (knowledge of teams)
Fifty-two referees, each with their own designated pair of assistants, have been shortlisted for the World Cup. The list will be cut to 30 for next year’s finals in Brazil, supersports understand.
