Prisons Director General Momodou Lamin Jarjue recently visited Janjangbureh, where one of the country's biggest prisons is located.
Upon arriving in Janjangbureh, the prisons boss was received by Governor Alhagie Ganyie Touray, governor of Central River Region, and other local security chiefs in the region.
Speaking at the meeting held at the governor's bantaba, Governor Touray welcomed the prisons director and his entourage in the region.
"Security is a sensitive thing that needs the collaboration of all security apparatus to work amicably to achieve their goals in maintaining peace and security in the country," he said.
While calling on CRR security personnel to strengthen their unity and cooperation for the good of the nation, he commended them for their hard work and loyalty to President Jammeh.
For his part, the Prisons director thanked and commended Governor Ganyie Touray and security chiefs in the region for the warm welcome accorded him and his delegation.
In his address to the security personnel at the meeting, Director Jarjue said: "Unity is paramount and unity is strength among the sister security units, particularly at the grassroots level.
"Unity and cooperation among security chiefs and personnel is the only way forward if we want to achieve our goals."
He urged the officers on the ground to maintain high sense of professionalism in their work and to collaborate in carrying out their functions and individual duties.
Kebba Bojang, the commissioner of Janjangbureh Prison, also spoke at length at the meeting, saying unity and cooperation "is the bedrock for security personnel in the area to be successful in their operations."
