President Ouattara gives US$1M to Ebola-hit countries

The president of Cote d’ Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, has given US$1 million to countries affected by Ebola, according to media reports from Cote d’Ivoire.

The West African country has also resumed flights and travel to Ebola-hit countries since Monday 20 October 2014.

President Ouattara is the second African president to have given such a cash donation to countries affected by the Ebola virus, after President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia, who has already given a total of US$1 million to Sierra Leone and Guinea Conakry to help them fight the deadly Ebola virus.
