Police Officer Testifies In Timber Case

Superintendent Omar Kolley, a Police Officer attached to Fraud and Commercial Unit at the Police Headquarters yesterday testified before Magistrate Kayode of the Bundung Magistrates' Court in the ongoing timber case involving one Lamin Jarjue.

In his testimony, Superintendent Kolley told the court that, on 26th May 2009, he was at the Fraud and Commercial Unit when he received a complaint from Luc Dec Clercq Company that they had timber transaction with the accused, whom the company had given the sum of one Million, one hundred and sixteen thousand Dalasi for the supply of timbers.

Still testifying, Officer Kolley told the court that upon receiving the complaint, the accused was invited at the Fraud Squad where he was confronted and confessed receiving monies from the complainant.

Officer Kolley further explained that, an investigation was later conducted and they came to realise that a vehicle type Opel, valued at D95, 000 was given to the accused to transport timbers.

He said another D27, 000 was also given to the accused by the company to repair the truck for the transportation of timbers.

The case adjourned to 20th October, 2009.
