The Commissioner of Police for Kanifing, Commissioner Samba Kebbeh has advised Gambian youths to be law-abiding citizens, respect elders and distance themselves from violence in society.
Commissioner Samba Kebbeh, who is responsible for the Kanifing Division was recently speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, at a one-day forum organised by the Youth Ambassadors of Peace on Global Cease-fire Day/International Day of Peace held in Kanifing. He reiterated the need for youths to be peace-loving, to avoid what had happened in other parts of the African continent.
He advised the youths to avoid taking drugs, adding that without the law, people could be killing each other.
Commissioner Kebbeh stated further that the police are only law-enforcement agents.
"Police are the persons you have employed to secure your life and property. Police are not your enemies. Let us respect ourselves by working assiduously to develop our country no one can do it for us", he said.
He advised the general public to cooperate with the police to give them information. "Youths of this country need attitudinal change", he said, calling on all and sundry to be law-abiding.
