close to this paper have revealed that the police have arrested nine boys, some
teenagers, others in their early 20s, at Kaimoh village in the Foni Bintang
District.
Speaking
in a telephone interview with The Point, police Public Relations Officer Lamin
Njie said the victim was at a ceremony when she received a phone call prompting
her to move away at a distance to answer the call, where the group of boys
confronted her and dragged her to a nearby bush, where her screaming caught the
attention of some guys who came to her rescue.
According
to the police PRO, the boys have been arrested and charged with attempted rape
and conspiracy to commit a felony, as they await trial.
The
police, therefore, wish to assure the public of its commitment to ensure that
communities are safe for women and girls, adding that “perpetrators of such
crimes shall face the full force of the law”.
