Sources close to this paper have revealed that the police have arrested nine boys, some teenagers, others in their early 20s, at Kaimoh village in the Foni Bintang District.
Speaking in a telephone interview with The Point, police Public Relations Officer Lamin Njie said the victim was at a ceremony when she received a phone call prompting her to move away at a distance to answer the call, where the group of boys confronted her and dragged her to a nearby bush, where her screaming caught the attention of some guys who came to her rescue.
According to the police PRO, the boys have been arrested and charged with attempted rape and conspiracy to commit a felony, as they await trial.
The police, therefore, wish to assure the public of its commitment to ensure that communities are safe for women and girls, adding that “perpetrators of such crimes shall face the full force of the law”.
