Scorpions’
vice-captain, Omar Colley on Friday donated D500, 000 to Gambia government as
part of his contribution in the fight against the spread of coronavirus
pandemic.
The
staggering was delivered to the Ministry of Health through the GFF President
Lamin Kaba Bajo and the minister of Youth of Sports Hadrammeh Sidibeh.
Speaking
during the handing over, Lamin Kabba Bajo said the donation was Omar Colley’s
personal contribution towards the fight against the spread of coronavirus in
the country.
“GFF
is also playing its utmost role in the collective campaign hence we have also
released videos in form of sensitisation against covid-19,” he said.
The
GFF leader thanked Omar Colley for his foresight and contribution towards the
fight in against the pandemic, while urging other people to emulate Omar Colley
and others.
Hadrammeh
Sidibeh, minister of Youth and Sports, thanked the Sampdoria defender for
contributing his quota in the fight against coronavirus. He said that
government is very committed to sports development and is serious in investing
in both youth and sports.
Fanta
Baye Secka, deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Health, said covid-19
pandemic is real and a serious global threat and thus urged the public to take
preventive measures.
“We
thank Omar Colley for showing leadership that is expected of him and also for
contributing as a Gambian, because we should all take responsibility and play
our own part by protecting ourselves,” she said.
