The NGO Affairs Agency under the Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning against certain individuals and organisations, who pose themselves as NGOs, while they are not officially registered with the agency.
"The public and the NGO community are hereby informed that the only recognised NGOs are those registered with the NGO Affairs Agency as stipulated in Article (1) one of the Protocol of Accord Decree 81," a statement issued by the ministry said, warning all to desist from the act.
"Anyone caught will face the full force of the law," the statement added.
The agency went further to warn government departments not to directly deal with Non-Governmental Organisations without prior knowledge or consultation with the NGO Affairs Agency, where all NGO matters are referred to.
