Alieu K. Jammeh, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, yesterday presided over the inauguration of the national organising committee of the 2010 National Youth Conference and Festival to be hosted in the Kanifing Municipality in December.
In his inaugural speech at the Conference Hall at the Independence Stadium, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Jammeh challenged the national organising committee to be committed and work together towards the success of the biannual event.
He revealed that NAYCONF is a platform where youths can come together to interact and discuss problems that affect them and come up with solution to those problems.
He added that his ministry would continue to contribute immensely to the success of the event.
The Director of Youth and Sports, Malang Jassey, said the National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF) in 1999 brought youths together from all the regions in the country to discuss the way forward for the Gambian youth.
The inauguration ceremony, chaired by Marcel Mendy Executive Secretary of the National Youth Council (NYC) was witnessed by the Executive Secretary National Sports Council, Besenty Gomez, and Pa Malick Ceesay, a member of the Council and other important personalities.
