The event, which was initially scheduled for December 14 to 22 for the Central River Region town of Janjangbureh, will now be held in Bansang also in the same region.
The budget for the Nayconf is D2.8 million to cater for one thousand five hundred delegates from across the country and beyond.
At the time of going to press, this budget, though is near to its target, still has some deficit.
The funds are needed for the accommodation, feeding, transportation, health care, conference logistic, and trophies etc.
Plans are said to be at an advanced stage as the national and local organizing committees are working on the ground for final touches.
Commenting on the preparations, the executive secretary of the National Youth Council (NYC) Marchel Mendy, said.
“The theme for the Nayconf is ‘Directing and Re-orienting Youth Participation Towards the Productive Sectors of the Economy.”
The objective of the Nayconf is to accelerate youth participation in the productive sector for employment creation and attainment of food security.
It also seeks to promote youth entrepreneurship by giving the youth the opportunity to exhibit their hand-made products.
The CRR event would also map out strategies to address issues and challenges relating to the risk of drugs use, alcohol abuse and HIV/AIDS.
He revealed that plans are there to bring back the Nayconf Daily once more for the interest of the participants.
Marchel said that already many regions have successfully conducted their regional youth conferences and festivals to help them better prepare for the Nayconf.
Issues such as proper representation and selection were part of those discussions, he said.
