Ebrima Fatty, a narcotics officer attached to Jarra Soma NDEA office,
Wednesday testified in the trial involving one Ebrima Singhateh, accused of
drug trafficking before Magistrate Nyima Samateh of the Banjul Magistrates’
Court.
In his testimony, officer Fatty told the court that on 27 May 2009, they were on patrol in a village called Marong Kunda where they met with the accused holding a blue nylon bag.
They suspected and asked him to stop, but he refused and they apprehended him, conducted a search and 33 parcels of suspected cannabis were found in his possession wrapped in cement paper.
He was asked the owner of the cannabis and the accused admitted owning it.
The accused was arrested and taken to Farafenni NDEA station, where he gave his statement.
The case was adjourned to 26 November 2014, for continuation of the hearing.
