Nac City FC on Sunday beat Tali Bi FC 5-3 on post-match penalty kicks in the semifinal encounter played at the Cocktail football ground following a goalless draw on regulation time, to qualify for the finals of the Fajara Youth Noran Football Tournament organised by Ma Ansu Nicol, a native of Fajara.
The well-contested encounter saw Tali Bi FC dominate most of the ball possession and create the better chances of the game but failed to capitalise on any one of them thus the game ended 0-0 resulting in penalty kicks, which ended 5-3 in favour of Nac City FC.
Earlier on 28 December 2013, Sidas FC beat Sisasea FC 4-3 on penalty kicks to secure their place in the final, after drawing 1-1 at the end of the final whistle at the same football ground.
Assan Raider gave Sidas FC the lead in the 35th minute of the game but his effort was cancelled by Musa Faal of Sisasea in the 80th minute thus the game ended 1-1 proceeding to post-match penalty kicks which ended 4-3 in favour of Sidas.
Sidas ended the game with ten men following skipper Samsidin Badjie’s sending-off in the 65th minute of the game.
Nac City will now face Sidas in the final to be played at the Cocktail Football Field on Saturday, 4 January 2014.
Ma Ansu Nicol, organiser of the tournament, said the competition brought together 14 teams who each paid a registration fee of D1,000.
Mr Nicol stated that the aim of staging the competition is to keep players busy and fit, and to avoid players just sitting down without doing anything, which he said can damage their career.
The tournament, in its fifth edition, is self-sponsored by the organiser who said there are young talented players in the area they want to encourage to take up the game seriously and help them develop as well as develop the game in the area.
