More witnesses in Ensa Badjie & co case

More witnesses continued to testify in the case involving former police chief Ensa Badjie and two other senior military officers, Lt. Col Mam Matarr Secka and Major Kuluteh Manneh, at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul.

The proceedings continued with the testimony of the fifteenth prosecution witness (PW15), Ousainou Dain, who told the court that he is a businessman and lives along

He informed the court that he trades in foodstuff and building materials, adding that some time in 2009, the 1st accused person came to buy some iron rods from his shop, and paid the price charged.

He told the court that Ensa Badjie told him that he is building a house, and asked him if he had any contribution toward its construction.

The witness said he gave 75 pieces of iron rods, of 10 millimeters size, to Ensa Badjie, adding that he did not know Badjie personally, but saw him on TV.

He stated that what he gave the 1st accused person amounted to D9, 000.

Under cross-examination by the defence counsel, the witness told the court that the 75 pieces of iron rods were given to Ensa Badjie free of charge, and it was not in connection with anything.

“I did not help him because he was the IGP,” he added.

The case continues today.
