One Cherinoh Cham was last Saturday convicted and sentenced to a fine of D2, 000, in default to serve five months in prison for stealing a mobile phone.
Magistrate JA Effirm of the Brikama Magistrates? Court in delivering his judgment stated that in a bid to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, the prosecution had called two witnesses, all of whom testified against the convict.
According to him, after looking at the evidences of the prosecution witnesses and that of the convict, the court was convinced that the convict had committed the act.
"I therefore found the convict guilty of the offence charged," he stated.
The convict, in his plea of mitigation, begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
"I am the bread winner of my family, my father had passed away and I live with my mother," the convict told the court.
