Miss Yassin Jagne, The Gambia’s beauty queen representing her country at the Miss West Africa International, has returned from Liberia, where she went for an ambassadorial visit to schools as part of celebrations marking her birthday.
Ms Jagne is now in the country preparing for the big event that will draw 24 beauty queens from around the world to contest for the prestigious beauty crown in Banjul.
The competition will take place at the Kairaba Beach Hotel on 18th December 2011.
Upon her return from Monrovia, Yassin said: “I am back, and ready to make my country proud at the contest. However, I need the support of Gambians for me to be successful at the high-profiled international event. It is the first time such an event is being staged in The Gambia, hence the need to leave our mark on it.”
As part of her preparations for the event, Yassin is meeting with the Vice President and Minister of Women’s Affairs, Dr Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy, and the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Fatou Lamin Faye; Minister of Tourism and Culture Fatou Mass Jobe, women’s and children’s organizations, and sponsors like Gambega, Ida’s Ideas and Sierra’s Designs.
