Men charged with multiple offence

Tamsir Biram Sarr, Sakko Drammeh, Mohamadou Jallow and Ali Jagane were recently arraigned before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, charged with conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor and obtaining money by false pretence.

The particulars of the offence on count one stated that the accused persons in 2009, at Churchill's Town and diverse places in the Kanifing Municipality, conspired with others to commit misdemeanor to wit defrauded Duga Jabbi, Badou Secka, Bintou Singhateh and Malick Singhateh.

Count two revealed that the accused persons at the same time and places, intend to defraud, jointly obtained D500,000 from Duga Jabbi, Badou Secka, Bintou Singhateh and Malick Singhateh collectively under the pretext that they were going to secure them each European visa for purported competition with the Gambia Amateur Boxing Association, which representation was false.

The case was adjourned till 21 April 2011 for continuation of hearing. Sergeant Kinteh stood for the Inspector General of Police.
