Marabout lands himself in trouble

Musa Gano, a marabout, was recently arraigned before Magistrate Ngube of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for obtaining money by false pretence.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused person, Musa Gano, some time in March 2011, at Kairaba Avenue and diverse places in the Kanifing Municipality, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained from one Amie Jobe D425, 000 under the pretext that he is a marabout and had foreseen some spiritual problems in her, and that he could help her solve them, which representation was false and he knew it to be false.

He denied the charge and was granted bail of D50,000 with a Gambian surety, who should be living within the jurisdiction of the court.

Prosecutor 3560 Colley represented the IGP, while Lawyer Pap Cheyassin Secka threw his weight behind the accused.

The case was adjourned till 14 November 2011, for the prosecutor to call his witnesses to show the court how the accused obtained the said money by false pretence.
