Man in court for allegedly threatening violence

A man accused of threatening violence was Monday arraigned before Magistrate Sidi Jobarteh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

Abdoulie Njie denied the charge, and was granted court bail of D20,000 with a Gambian surety.

The particulars of offence stated that the accused, Abdoulie Njie, on 11 October 2014 at Pirang village, threatened to kill one Cherno Jallow with a stick, and thereby committed an offence.

Hearing continues.

In a separate development, the trial involving one Karim Darboe and four others Monday resumed before Magistrate Jobarteh.

However, the case could not proceed as the witness was reported to be absent.

The police prosecutor, Sub inspector Sarr, applied for a subpoena to be served on the witness, which was granted.

The particulars of offence on count one stated that Karim Darboe, Momodou Lamin Sanyang, Yankuba Ceesay, Abdoulie Badjie and Amadou Jallow, at Mandinary village wilfully and unlawfully entered the land of one Alhagie Manneh and destroyed his compound valued at D243,000.

Count two read that in the same village, they entered the compound of the said Alhagie Manneh and stole the sum of D10,000.

Count three stated that they trespassed on the land of the said Alhagie Manneh with intent to commit a felony.

The case was adjourned to 28 October 2014, for hearing.
