Man arraigned for being in possession of drug

One Alieu Bojang, believed to be a native of Farato, was last Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate Alagba of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court on charges of dealing and being in possession of prohibited drugs.

According to the particulars of offence on count one, on 15 June 2011, at Farato village, West Coast Region, the accused, Alieu Bojang, acquired 39g of cannabis sativa, a prohibited drug, which he planted in the bathroom of his brother, Momodou Bojang.

 Count two revealed that the accused on the same date and place had in his possession 39g of cannabis sativa, prohibited drug, and thereby committed an offence.

However, the accused denied the charges and was subsequently remanded in custody at Mile 2 pending the determination of the case.

The case was then adjourned till 1September 2011.
