Madi Fatty’s clinical finish sends U-20 to slender win over Casa Sport in int’l friendly

Striker Madi Fatty’s 51st minute clinical finish helped the Gambia U-20 to win 1-0 against Senegalese premier league side Casa Sport in an international friendly game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Saturday.

The international friendly was part of the Gambia U-20’s preparations for the 2015 Africa U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers away to Liberia on Sunday 6 April 2014, at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.

The Senegalese premier league dominated the opening minutes of the game and created some goal-scoring opportunities but squandered them.

The Gambia U-20, who were unable to settle in the early minutes of the game, also created some goal-scoring opportunities but failed to utilize the numerous chances, thus the first half ended goalless.

Upon resumption of the game, both sides brought in several fresh legs to boost their attacking force as well as fancy their chances of winning the game.

The Gambia U-20 opened the score through Real De Banjul talisman Madi Fatty in the 51st minute of the game from Saikou Conteh’s brilliant cross, to give his side, the U-20, the lead, which eventually proved to be the winner for the game for the Gambia U-20 over the Senegalese premier league club Casa Sport.

The Senegalese premier league responded quickly for an equaliser and created several goal-scoring opportunities but could not break through Gambia U-20’s solid defence, thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of the Gambia U-20, who are gearing up for the 2015 Africa U-20 qualifiers away to Liberia on Sunday 6 April 2014, at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.
