Lessons Of Wisdom

Dec 3, 2009, 11:47 AM

The importance of forgiving someone who has erroneously hurt another person unknowingly cannot be over-emphasised.

We have always been calling people to forgive each other, as a fundamental lesson taught by major religions, both Islam and Christianity.

It is important to note that adherents of these faiths should learn to forgive and let bygones be bygones as one of the fundamental virtues of religion.

These are virtues that we should cherish to give peace a chance in the interest of progress and prosperity.

If we ask for forgiveness from those we hurt, we should also be prepared to forgive those who offend us, as we sometimes knowingly or unknowingly hurt others.

We therefore emphasise the need for humility because without it, it is hard to learn to forgive others or ask for forgiveness from others.

It is also important to emphasise that at the national level, there is a need to forgive those who might have erroneously hurt us in one way or other, hence when we forgive, we grow bigger in spirit and mind.

If we learn to apply the lessons taught by good books, then we are well on the path to a life of harmony, peace, concord and communion.

"One may learn wisdom even from one's enemies."
