The most awaited Kombo South District Football Tournament meant to nurture young talents in Kombo South kicked off at the Gunjur playground at the weekend.
Eleven teams, namely Tujereng, Sifoe, Berending, Batokunku, Tanji, Banyaka, Sanyang, Jambur, Kartong, Jambanjelly and Gunjur, are vying for the championship title.
Jambanjelly were held to a goalless draw by Kartong in the opening game of the tournament on Saturday.
Berending made a perfect start to the tournament after thrashing Batokunku 2-0 in group A fixtures at the Gunjur playground on Sunday courtesy of goals from Sulayman Jatta and Isaac Jammeh in the 15th and 68th minutes.
Elsewhere, Tujereng beat Banyaka 2-0 in group B fixtures at the Sanyang playground that same day.
Kartong and Jambanjelly are joint table toppers in group C each with one point in one game.
Berending are leading group A with 3 points in one outing while Tujereng have secured top spot on group B with 3 points in one game.
Batokunku are rooted at the bottom of group A with zero point while Banyaka are also rooted at the bottom of group B with zero point.
