Reports reaching this paper from the Upper River Region have revealed that a recent fire outbreak has claimed the lives of one person and destroyed many houses in Sare Nyaba in Wuli West District.
According to our sources, the inferno, which occurred in the night, caused the death of Binta Sowe a 4-year-old girl and completely destroyed 9 houses including two food stores.
“The victims are in a very dire situation right now as they have lost a family member and all their belongings,” said Alkali Kebbeh, Sare Ngai Ward Councillor.
Mr Kebbeh, who personally visited the scene, has been appealing for assistance for the victims.
Meanwhile, this paper has also confirmed that the regional office of the National Disaster Management Agency has provided the victims with some assistance but too less of their reasonable needs.
The fire was said to have been emanated from one of the affected houses at the peak of night and rapidly engulfed the nearby buildings.
