Highworth Community in the UK recently donated school materials to Marsden Nursery School in Tallinding.

The donated materials, presented at a ceremony attended by teachers of the school and community elders, included books, pencils, mosquito nets and other essentials.

Mrs Galliomo, public relations officer (PRO) of the project who also coordinator its activities in Highworth, the UK, thanked Mr Jammeh and his staff for giving her a resounding welcome.

She also thanked the community for their hospitality, noting that she is very impressed about what she saw at the school.

The community Highworth has been supporting this school over the years, she said, while calling on the school administration to make good use of the materials given to them.  The project will continue to support the school, she said.

Madam Galliomo therefore thanked the community of Highworth in the UK, saying that without the support of the community “this would not have happened”.

In receiving the items, Lamin Jammeh, head of the school, thanked the donors for the gesture. The donated items would go a long way in supporting the school, he said.

Mr Jammeh revealed that last year the donors also donated a number of mosquito nets to the school, which also benefited the community immensely.

This year they have increased the items they have been donating to the school, he said, adding: “The school has also been fenced by the donors and this has been a lot of good and development for us.”

He profoundly thanked the head of the donors, Mrs Galliomo, for the donation, saying it is of great good and development to their students and the community of Tallinding.

Mr Jammeh assured Mrs Galliomo and her team in the UK that the community of Tallinding is behind them and the people are always appreciative of what the UK community has done for his school and the Tallinding community.
