Hawks FC on Wednesday 12th May 2010 defeated Gamtel FC by a goal to nil to snatch their second victory in the Week Eighteen fixtures of the Gambia Football Association (GFA) First Division League Championship, at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

Striker Omar Sarr scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute from a sensible finish after capitalising on Ablie Janneh's brilliant cross from the right side of the field to earn his side the second victory in eighteen games.

The Banjul club collected 16 points, while Gamtel FC now grabbed 25 points

Ansu Fatty, the acting Head Coach of Hawks FC has expressed delight at his side’s one-nil victory over Gamtel FC after the game.

He also said "this is one of the games that we needed because the three points is what can keep us out of the struggling zone which is very vital and important for us."

According to Fatty, "this keeps our life in the First Division, without this goal that gave us the three points we are nowhere and is as important as anything today."

Hawks, who are out of the contest for this year league title, are faced with a battle to stay in the First Division.

He also stated that his worries are not yet over as they needed to win two or three games before the end of the league to keep them in the First Division, adding that any of their remaining games in the league is a final to them.
