The final of the long-awaited Gunjur Super Cup, is slated for this Saturday 25th July 2009, between the defending league and the knock-out champions Gamcel FC and the knock-out runners-up, Late Pa Jobe FC at Gunjur Football Pitch at 4.30pm, the Super Cup, marking the curtain raiser of the new Nawettan league championship in Gunjur.
Gamcel FC, who won both the league and the knock-out trophy last season, will be hoping for a victory in order to lift the championship for the second time in the history of the club. They won their first Super Cup title in 2004, when they defeated Hawks FC 1-0 in the final.
Late Pa Jobe FC who won the first edition of the Gunjur Super Cup championship title in 2002, when they thrashed Tennis FC 2-0 and also thrashed Commit FC 2-0 in last year's Super Cup final will come all out for revenge as they lost to Gamcel FC, both in the league quarter-final and knock-out final last season.
The final match is expected to be witnessed by significant dignitaries and football fans across Gunjur and its satellite settlements.
The organising committee of Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association is urging the general pubic to come out in their large numbers to watch the most-awaited Super Cup final ever to be played in Gunjur.
The organising committee is also appealing to the fans of both finalists to exercise discipline during the final match. They promised free-trouble championship this season.
It could be recalled that Gamcel FC won the league and the knock-out trophy after edging out Cathy FC and Late Pa Jobe FC in the league and knock-out final, respectively.
