The thrilling encounter saw both sides play spectacular football and Gamcel FC opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the game through Sainey Gibba. However Gunjur Project Lodge FC staged a remarkable fight back and they created chances but could not capitalise. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Gamcel FC.
As play resumed in the second half, Gunjur Project Lodge FC came all out to looking for an equaliser while Gamcel FC were sleeping in their own half to seal the victory.
Gunjur Project Lodge FC broke the deadlock in the 89th minute through a brilliant free kick by defender Omar Sanyang which pushed the match to a penalty shoot-out. Penalties ended 5-4 in favour of Gunjur Project Lodge FC.
Gamcel FC can be come best losers of the knockout tourney if Dunes FC and Nyokoyor FC encounter ends in a win for either side in normal time.
Late Pa Jobe FC on Sunday humiliated Nas FC 4-1 in the second quarter final in a keenly contested game. Late Pa Jobe FC dominated possession in the first half of game and they opened the scoring in the 25th minute of the game through striker Lamin Darboe. A minute later Pa Abdoulie Jammeh, alias Beckham, doubled the lead and the first half ended 2-0 in favour of Late Pa Jobe FC.
In the second half of the game Nas FC were confident that they could level the scores and push the game to a post match penalty shoot out when midfielder Ousman Jabang, alias Lampard, scored a brilliant free kick in the 60th minutes of play. Late Pa Jobe FC were experienced enough however to mount pressure on the Nas FC defence and in the 78th minute Pa Abdoulie Jammeh netted his second goal of the match. Yusupha Jammeh sealed the victory in the 92nd minute of match after slashing through the Nas FC defence to make it 4-1. Late Pa Jobe FC will join Gunjur Project Lodge FC in the semis.
The championship continues this weekend on Sunday 25th January 2009 when Dunes FC will clash with Nyokoyor FC in the third quarter final.
