The Gambia Ports Authority on Sunday beat Division one returnees Interior 4-1 in the week one fixtures of the 2012-2013 Gamtel/Gamcel sponsored Gambia Football Association GFA division one league played at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
Gambia Ports Authority, who lost to Interior 2-0 in the 2012 FA Cup semi-final, came all out for revenge and dominated the ball possession throughout the game and created several scoring opportunities.
Gambia Ports Authority opened the score through striker Alagie Jawneh in the 15th minute of the game from a brilliant free-kick to give his side the lead.
Moments later, Gambia Ports Authority found themselves 2-0 up in the 35th minute of the game when midfield general Hamza Barry netted the second goal from a clever free-kick to salvage his side’s lead.
Hamza Barry notched the third goal in the 40th minute of the game from Alagie Sarr’s exceptional cross to make it 3-0.
Upon resumption of the second half, Interior brought in several fresh legs and mounted pressure on Gambia Ports Authority’s defence line, creating chances and managing to pull back one through Momodou Camara, alias Toubab, in the 62nd minute of the game through an astonishing strike, which actually proved to be a consolation goal for the security boys.
Abdoulie Bah sealed the victory for the Ferry boys in the 81st minute of the game from a close range strike to make it 4-1.
Bakau giant killers Steve Biko beat Telecommunications side Gamtel 1-0 at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium, while Samger were held to a goalless draw by the newly promoted side Seaview at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
