The four persons, who filed nomination papers as candidates in the July 31 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) presidential elections, would this Monday morning have their nominations papers opened and screened by the Normalization Committee.
The four are former GFA president Seedy Kinteh, former second GFA vice president Adama Halla Samba, another former GFA vice president and treasurer Modou Mousa and the KMC divisional youth and sports committee chairman, Mustapha Kebbeh.
According to NC spokesman Omar Sey, the public would be informed of the names of the persons who survived the screening latest on Wednesday. He gave no further details.
However, the nominations were made amidst bitter wrangling, with supporters of Adama Halla Samba and Seedy Kinteh accusing the NC of attempting to disqualify their candidates, and warning that any such attempts would be resisted.
Meanwhile, the NC has denied any witch-hunting, announcing that it would go by the directives given by Fifa on the election process, and that whoever satisfied that would be duly nominated; and that those aggrieved should direct their complaints to the NC.
Meanwhile, The Point has been reliably informed that the NC had since put together an independent team to do the screening and look into the eligibility of candidates as per the constitution and other relevant requirements for election.
