Gamtel’s hopes of clinching their first Gambia Football Association (GFA) division one league title have suffered yet another setback following their 1-0 defeat to Bakau United in the Week 18 fixtures played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Saturday.
The telecommunications giants’ defeat to Bakau United on Saturday has given United their first win in the second round and placed them on mid-table.
This first defeat of Gamtel in the second round has dashed their hopes of lifting their first-ever GFA division one league title.
Elsewhere, Young Africans were held to a goalless draw by relegation threatened Serrekunda United in the other Week 18 fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
Young Africans have collected 23 points in eighteen games, Bakau United and Gamtel have each collected 22 points in eighteen games, while Serrekunda United are struggling at the bottom of the table with 16 points in eighteen games.
