The Point yesterday learned through reliable sources that Mr Jamal Micknas, Managing Director of the Gambia Telecommunication Company (Gamtel), has been removed from his position.
Though no reason(s) was advanced to this paper as to his removal, sources said this development took effect Wednesday afternoon.
Jamal Micknas, who replaced Mr Katim Touray as Gamtel MD, was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications Infrastructure prior to joining Gamtel.
Sources further advanced that Mr Baboucarr Sanyang, deputy Managing Director of Gamtel, is now overseeing the company.
Jamal Micknas was appointed as MD in December 2010.
