Mustapha Manneh, head coach of Gamtel FC, has ruled out fear of any opponent in the first division league looking at the calibre of players in his team at the moment.
Manneh said in an interview with this reporter that a case in point was his team’s 4-1 win over Samger FC in the week seven fixtures of the Gambia Football Association first division league game played at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
Manneh, who was very jubilant over the win because his side were labeled as draw specialists, said: “In coaching you have to learn from your mistakes and try to work on them to be victorious in your other games.”
Asked about his view of the combination of Ebou Taal and Njanko Gassama in his defence, Coach Manneh replied: “I am not surprised to see them play well together today. There is no permanent place for any player in the team; any player who did not perform has to be rested and another given the chance to prove himself.”
He added: “Samger FC is not a new team to us and we know how they play. So we used the flanks to penetrate their defence line and scored goals and won the game.”
Manneh noted that they would prepare very well for their next game against Steve Biko FC to collect maximum points despite knowing that “it will not be an easy game”.
