Gamcel FC, Oxford United and Nyokoyorr FC are all through to the semi-final of the ongoing Gunjur Nawetan championship after winning their quarterfinal games at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field recently.
The cellular boys, Gamcel FC, sailed to the semi-final after beating last year’s league runners-up QCell FC 2-1 in the quarterfinal with goals from Real De Banjul prolific striker Yusupha Barrow, alias Beckham, and Mbemba Fatty, alias Puyol, in the 15th and 75th minutes of the game respectively. Sarjo Jallow’s 16th-minute strike proved to be a consolation goal for QCell FC.
Oxford United FC have advanced to the semi-final following their recent 2-1 post-match penalty shootout victory after a goalless draw in the regulation time in their quarterfinal clash.
Nyokoyorr FC have also booked their ticket to the semi-final following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over last year’s knockout runners-up World Eleven FC in the quarterfinal, courtesy of Kojo’s strike from penalty spot.
