As part of its week-long campaign for blood donation within
the Greater Banjul Area, The Gambia Association of Blood Donors yesterday held
a blood donor session at Banjul City Council.
Speaking at the occasion Mr. Babucarr Ngum, PRO of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, said the blood donated by the people is meant for the patients at the hospital especially the accident and emergency unit and maternity among others.
He added that the blood donated will also be used for operation purposes
Mr. Ngum called on the general public to donate blood, noting that the blood they donate may save their own life and family.
He commended Banjul City Council for hosting the event.
For her part, the president of the blood donors, Mrs. Rohey Njie Secka, stated that the week-long event is funded by Trust Bank, Comium and the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation
