Gambia to participate in ECOWAS Wrestling championship

The Gambian delegation will leave Banjul on Wednesday 8 June 2011 for Dakar to participate in the fourth Edition of the ECOWAS Traditional Wrestling Championship due to take place in Dakar from 9th to 12th June 2011.

The Gambian delegation, according to information reaching the Pointsport desk, comprises a ten-man contingent, and among them are five wrestlers,  a representative from the Gambia Wrestling Association, a doctor and a representative from the Sports Journalist Association of the Gambia.

In a brief interview with Pointsport yesterday, the executive Secretary of the National Sports Council Mamudou Max Jallow who also doubles as the head of the delegation to this event, said the ECOWAS traditional wrestling tournament is an annual event.

The Gambia also participated in last year’s wrestling championship, where the wrestlers had a good result.
