The Gambia Scout Task Force under the auspices of the Ministry of Youths and Sports on Thursday 17th June 2010, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Conference Hall of the Friendship Hostel in Bakau.
Aja Kasa Kanteh Sanneh was elected President of the Gambia Scout Association to replace Assan Musa Camara, who resigned as the President of the association. Pa Omar Bojang was elected as the Chief Scout Commissioner to replace Ousman Y. Jatta, while Amat Sowe was elected as the Finance Commissioner of the association to oversee the affairs of the association for the next three years.
Speaking at the occasion, Sulayman Bun Njie, the Chairman of the Task Force who also doubles as the Chairman of the National Sports Council thanked the whole Scout Association for accepting their invitation to witness the Annual General Meeting. According to him, the success of the Gambia Scout Association is also the success of the African Scout Movement.
Mr. Kama-Kama also thanked the government of The Gambia, especially the President and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their support towards the Gambia Scout Association.
In his keynote address, Mambanyick Njie, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports said the day marks a new beginning for the Gambia Scout Association, adding that he is of the belief that those who are elected would endeavour to make sure a new scout is built in The Gambia. He also urged the new executive to work together as partners in development and above all as brothers and sisters.
According to him, the government of The Gambia is ready to give its support to the Gambia Scout Association to attain a successful Vision 2020. He thanked the President of The Gambia for showing his interest to the Gambia Scout Association.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alieu K. Jammeh chaired the event.
