Gambia Methodist Academy tops grade 9 exams results

Two students of Gambia Methodist Academy have passed the 2010 Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examinations with flying colours.

Adam Badjan and Makumba Cham of Gambia Methodist Academy both attained grade 1 in all nine subjects, leaving behind a total of 19,838 students who also entered for the examination.

"The total number of candidates who entered for the examination was 19,840 students of which 9,951 male and 9,889 female," a September 14th 2010 press release from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education stated.

According to the release, a total of 10 candidates scored aggregate 6 in the 2010 examinations.

"5 are from Gambia Methodist Academy, 2 from Ndow's Comprehensive, 1 from St Theresa's in Kanifing, 1 from St Peter's in Lamin, and 1 from Jamisa," the release said.

It stated further that candidates are to receive their individual results from their respective schools.

"Admission to grade 10 should be based on passes in the core subjects to be decided by boards of governors and not exceeding aggregate 42," the release noted.
