The Gambia will welcome Senegal in the second leg tie of the 2016 African Nations Championship tomorrow, Saturday 4 July 2015, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4pm.

The Scorpions will be in a hot challenge to overturn the tie in their favour in the second leg to advance to the second round after losing to Tarranger Lions 3-1 in the first leg in Dakar, a fortnight ago.

The Tarranger Lions thrashed the Scorpions 3-1 in the first leg tie in Dakar, a fortnight ago.

Tarranger Lions need only a draw to sail to the second round following their resounding victory over the Scorpions in the first leg, but a sustaining a massive defeat in the hands of the Scorpions will dash their hopes of sealing a place in the second round.

The winner between the Gambia and Senegal will play against either Guinea or Liberia in the second round of the qualifiers.

African Nations Championship (CHAN) was initiated by the continent’s football governing body (CAF) in 2009 for players plying their trade in their respective domestic leagues.

The first edition was won by the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2009. Tunisia won the second edition in 2011 and Libya the third edition in 2014.
