Members of the Gambia Cycling Association were on Sunday equipped with cycling materials from a Dutch couple.
The materials are meant to help keep cyclists’ bikes on tract as well as to help in their training and preparations for future events.
The materials are tires, bottles, shoes, jerseys, helmets among others.
The presentation ceremony, held in Kololi, brought together numerous participants from the association to witness the gesture made by the couple to support and improve cycling in The Gambia.
This development took place few weeks after Kommer Van Trigt, a Dutch national and his family, organised an event in support of cycling, which attracted many participants from the association.
The activity was marked by a race from the Ninki Nanka Bar and Restaurant to Brusubi Turn-table and ended at the Lemon Creek Hotel in Kerr Serign.
Edrisa Njie (alias Chicko) thanked the donors for the gesture, saying that since he started cycling, he had never seen such a presentation ceremony.
He revealed that after having the government’s approval, they would like to stage a five-day cycling event which is due to commence from Fatoto, Basse, Bansang, Mansakonko, the Fonis, and Brikama to be ended in Banjul.
