Gambega gives to Islamic Council

As the holy feast of Ramadan is just at the corner, the Gambega Limited on Monday 9th August 2010 made a handsome donation of items to the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council, at its main headquarters in Kanifing.

The items donated included 50 crates of can drinks, 30 crates of juice and 20 crates of plastic cans.

Speaking at the ceremony, Saja Sambou, the Public Affairs and Publication Manager, who spoke on behalf of the Country Manager, said that it has become Gambega's tradition to help the Muslim community. According to him, they believe that business and religion work together. He expressed gratitude to the council in their efforts to create peace that everyone enjoyed in this country.

Mr. Sheriff Badjan, the first Vice-President of the Supreme Islamic Council expressed delight at the gifts. He noted this was not their first time to give support to the Muslims. He underscored the importance of peace in a country, and then prayed for peace to prevail and their business to flourish.

For his part, Sheikh Muhamadou Lamin Touray, the President of the Supreme Islamic Council described the gathering as peaceful. He stated that Gambega in many ways help Muslims, especially when Ramadan is fast approaching.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to come on board to give support to the needy as they also serve as means to distributing it to the needy. He gave assurance that the items will surely reach the Muslim Ummah.
